It’s getting hot hot hot and summer is definitely here in Dallas. Now we are not only allowed to wear white again, but it’s also completely encouraged to indulge in iced coffees all day and frozen treats by the pool. While the canines can’t have coffee and cocktails, there’s no reason our dogs can’t join in on a sweet snack!
We have found the best pupsicles out there and incredible adult frozen beverages to go along with them. The perfect treats for the perfect pair – a girl and her best friend.
Use any traditional popsicle container, ice cube tray, or adorable silicone molds like the one below to freeze the pupcicles.
PEANUT BUTTER PUPSICLES & BUSHWACKERS
For Your Dog: Peanut Butter Pupsicles
In a small mixing bowl, combine peanut butter with a little water or half a mashed banana. Spoon the mixture into the molds or Kong toys and freeze!
For You: Peanut Butter Bushwackers
Add all liquor ingredients to a blender, and add ice and blend on high for 30 seconds. Garnish the glass with a chocolate sauce drizzle, if desired (which it always is).
Slice two apples, throw away seeds and the core, then chop up and throw in a blender. Add a cup of plain Greek yogurt and a splash of water, then blend, pour in an ice tray and freeze.
For You: Frozen Apple Margarita
Wet rim of glass and dip in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Combine ingredients into blender and strain before pouring into glass.
STRAWBERRY BANANA PUPSICLES AND DAIQUIRIS
For Your Dog: Fruit and Yogurt Pupcicles
Cut the banana into small chunks and peel the cucumber. Place all ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth. Pour into molds and freeze.
For You: Strawberry Banana Daiquiris
Hull and halve the strawberries. Peel and slice the bananas. Combine the fruit, rum, and juices in the blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth. Add the ice and blend again until the mixture is smooth. Add a strawberry as garnish on the glass.
WATERMELON PUPSICLES AND JELL-O SHOTS
For Your Dog: Watermelon Pupcicles
Cut watermelon into bite sized chunks, remove seeds, and freeze. Yes… it’s that easy!
For You: Watermelon Jell-O Shots
Halve the watermelon and scoop out the flesh (freeze for watermelon pupsicles!) In a large bowl mix together Jell-O mix and unflavored gelatin. Pour in the boiling water and whisk until it is dissolved. Add Vodka and whisk again. Place halved watermelons into bowl or baking sheet and transfer mixture into the halved watermelons. Refrigerate until firm, about 4-5 hours.
