Sweet ’16 proved to be an enormously wonderful year, and we owe it in large part to our fans for helping to continue to build this dream into reality. Before we jump head first into our (oh-my-gosh-crazy-huge-can’t-wait-to-share-them-with-you) 2017 goals, we’re taking a moment to reflect on all the hard work and successes of 2016.
In February, I fulfilled the number one item on my bucket list and traveled to Africa! It was the most amazing experience and I can’t wait to go back. But first, I still need to carve out time to edit all 3,000 of my photos!
In March, we loaded up our pack and drove halfway across the country to follow our dreams of living in Dallas. We told our giant dogs we were moving to the land where EVERYTHING is bigger. This city has been everything we hoped and more and we couldn’t be happier here!
In April, we re-opened our doors for business in our new location, and photographed our first Dallas dog – The Stig! Since then, we have been blessed to meet the most wonderful people the DFW Metroplex has to offer.
In July, we officially took our business nationwide and announced our Runway Sessions. We traveled to Kenya, Milwaukee, Chicago, Livermore, Washington DC, Baltimore, and Miami in 2016. San Antonio, Costa Rica, and San Diego are already on the books for 2017 with more destinations to come, and we can’t wait to keep meeting and photographing fabulous friends wherever we go.
In August, we took home the bronze medal at the International Photographic Competition and we’re already hard at work on our competition images for 2017!
In November, I earned my Certified Professional Photographer credentials after passing a written exam and submitting a portfolio of work for a rigorous inspection of technical and artistic merit.
In December, we were honored to be featured among the Best of 2016 in Shutter Magazine.
And even more-so, we were thrilled that YOU loved our work enough to vote us Best Pet Photographer in Dallas.
This year, not counting our own pack, we photographed the smiling faces of 62 dogs, 1 cat, and 4 horses.
The new year is a blank book and the camera is in our hands; we can’t wait to capture the beautiful story of 2017! Let the year ahead be the one where all your dreams come true!
In loving memory of the Haute Dogs whose stories we were blessed to document before they crossed the Rainbow Bridge this year – The Stig and Darla.
